Content: This ad is selling a fruit flavored soda that contains 100% natural sugar. The product name is Jaarritos, the word "graffuiti" is written across the bottom of ad.
Message: I feel that the ad is using a small child and her puppy to sell the product. And the fact that it
says that it is made from fruit would make one think that it is healthy.
Character and setting: The scene of this ad is of a dark haired little girl, whom is blowing bubble, with
with her puppy standing beside her. There is picture of a strawberry as well as
a bottle of the soda. I feel this product is intended for a young audience and
they use the promotion of fruit to be appealing to parents. This is product
made in Mexico.
Theme: The underlying message of this ad would be that the product is better for you then regular
soda because it is made with fruit as well as it contains 100% natural sugar instead of
artificial sugars.
Medium: I feel this would appear in a magazine.
Historical context: This ad could appear in the United States or Mexico. It does not appear to be recent
although it could be made to appear from another generation so that it appeals to
more than one audience. Also the fact that they mention that Jarritos is made with
natural sugar would also seem that it is more recent due to all the debates about
the artificial sugars.
Word and Image: The image of the strawberry is the first thing I noticed. I had to read the whole text
to realize that it was in fact a soda. The fact that this ad gives priority to the
strawberry is misleading. This image would appeal to parents of young children
because they would think that it is fruit juice. It also has a little girl with her puppy
which one could assume was a beverage for a child
Layout: This ad is arranged for a magazine. By using the image of the strawberry we would
assume that the product is healthy. The fact that they use 100% natural sugar is also
appealling if you are a person who does not consume artificial sweetners.
Design: In this ad the product is strawberry flavored so they use the color red frequently. The
images that are red in color are bigger in size as well.
Voice: Here again the word "graffruiti" is used to make one think that this is a fruit drink. I
feel it is a personal voice because they use a child in the ad.
Rhetorical appeals: Uses image of a strawberry with a bottle of soda
Strategy of development: The author uses pathos.
Cultural resonance: This ad does not use famous events or places.
