I am going to use the website ntia.doc.gov. This article was written by the Department of Commerce. This purpose of this article is to inform the public of their findings. This article covers several topics in this article. It is kind of dated, it was printed in 1999.I have read this article and it is somewhat difficult to read.

After researching the library database I found an article pertaining to my final essay. I am doing my research paper on the benefits of computer use in elementary school. The article is titles Using Multimedia Graphic Organizer Software in the Pre-writing Activities of Primary School Students. What are the Benefits? This is a very long article but it has some very valuable information. It focuses on the pre-writing aspects. I am still trying to find another article to use as well.

Working Hypothesis
I have selected to research an article titled Invitation to a Dialogue: Computers in School? This letter to the editor, Greg Simon, is talking about his opinion of not having computers in the school setting until children enter the sixth grade. Simon was the domestic policy adviser to Vice President Al Gore, and oversaw the Clinton administration’s program to connect classrooms to the Internet. I would have to disagree with this point. I feel the whole world is becoming more technical savvy everyday. If we don't educate our children and teach them how to use modern day technology until the sixth grade would we not be putting our children behind the rest of the world? Children in other countries would have a five year head start on our children here in America. What would the long term effect be? I just feel we should teach our children at a young age when they can absorb so much information.

I have chose to do my research paper on Women's Rights. I find this to be very interesting yet it makes me mad at the same time. The right for women to vote is a very important time in history. When our ancestors fought so hard to win women the right to vote it was not an easy task. But because of their dedication and determination they prevailed.
I will be using several articles from the internet to prepare this essay. I will also resort back to some of the information that I received when I attended a Women's Gender Study class at OU. I wish I could find a female who was around in the latter part of that battle so I could interview her myself. My mother was born in 1949 and I am not sure what she might have went through. I will compare posters of decades ago to those of today.
Some of the problems that I foresee is trying to find a woman who I can interview. I know there are some women who was around in the days when abortion was illegal. I am not sure when women was actually able to fight in war. I know they could be a nurse or work in factories that supplied the men who were in combat. It is this information that I hope I can find.

After reading "The World's Local Bank", I was a bit confused. I found the commercial to be funny. I felt the author was portraying the HSBC to be willing to conform to any culture therefore promoting globalization. I thought this was a very boring essay. It was written well and the author used big words but other than that I found it to be somewhat repetitive and boring. Casinelli made some valid points and I did agree with some of his opinions but I would have to research the matter myself to have a better understanding of it.

Ad #1
Content: This ad is selling a fruit flavored soda that contains 100% natural sugar. The product name is Jaarritos, the word "graffuiti" is written across the bottom of ad.
Message: I feel that the ad is using a small child and her puppy to sell the product. And the fact that it
says that it is made from fruit would make one think that it is healthy.
Character and setting: The scene of this ad is of a dark haired little girl, whom is blowing bubble, with
with her puppy standing beside her. There is picture of a strawberry as well as
a bottle of the soda. I feel this product is intended for a young audience and
they use the promotion of fruit to be appealing to parents. This is product
made in Mexico.
Theme: The underlying message of this ad would be that the product is better for you then regular
soda because it is made with fruit as well as it contains 100% natural sugar instead of
artificial sugars.
Medium: I feel this would appear in a magazine.
Historical context: This ad could appear in the United States or Mexico. It does not appear to be recent
although it could be made to appear from another generation so that it appeals to
more than one audience. Also the fact that they mention that Jarritos is made with
natural sugar would also seem that it is more recent due to all the debates about
the artificial sugars.
Word and Image: The image of the strawberry is the first thing I noticed. I had to read the whole text
to realize that it was in fact a soda. The fact that this ad gives priority to the
strawberry is misleading. This image would appeal to parents of young children
because they would think that it is fruit juice. It also has a little girl with her puppy
which one could assume was a beverage for a child
Layout: This ad is arranged for a magazine. By using the image of the strawberry we would
assume that the product is healthy. The fact that they use 100% natural sugar is also
appealling if you are a person who does not consume artificial sweetners.
Design: In this ad the product is strawberry flavored so they use the color red frequently. The
images that are red in color are bigger in size as well.
Voice: Here again the word "graffruiti" is used to make one think that this is a fruit drink. I
feel it is a personal voice because they use a child in the ad.
Rhetorical appeals: Uses image of a strawberry with a bottle of soda
Strategy of development: The author uses pathos.
Cultural resonance: This ad does not use famous events or places.

After looking at the websites for Ohio University I chose to look at the web page for Ohio State University. I was shocked to see that the Ohio State University web page was very agricultural based while Ohio University was more community based. What was so funny about this to me is the fact that Ohio State University is located in Columbus, Ohio. This is not only the capitol of Ohio but also a major city. Ohio University, both Chillicothe and Athens campuses, are located in rural, country settings.

I found this to be odd. It seems as if the pictures were presented on the wrong web page.
